Linux Security

by Brent Kirkpatrick

(Date Published: .)

Infrastructure security is necessary to secure Linux.

Linux is only as secure as the infrastructure that surrounds it. Many routers run Linux operating systems and many servers run Linux. If the infrastructure is hacked, usually it is done with a Linux hack. If one Linux operating system gets hacked in its core, they all do.

Have you stopped to look at how many of your infrastructure computers are running Linux? If not Linux, they run BSD. Our economy has committed to open source security by installing Linux for the infrastructure.

Imagine a worm that exploits the Linux kernel. The core of the operating system is vulnerable to a worm. The kernel is installed in most of your infrastructure. Hence the worm can inhabit your whole network, all your routers and all your servers.

Secure your infrastructure. Secure Linux.
