Accords on Cybersecurity

With computers being ubiquitous, computer crime comes under international scrutiny.

Recent international summits have reached accords on cybersecurity. This includes conduct of member nations over elections, financial, and industrial cybersecurity.

At the G-20 summit in 2017, the ongoing discussion of cybersecurity met with contention between Trump and Putin. After arguing about whether Russia interfered with U.S. elections by hacking, Trump encouraged Putin to work constructively. The two discussed safeguarding elections.

At the G-7 summit in 2016, there was much talk about member cybersecurity plans. Indeed, the members agreed to a common framework for financial-sector cybersecurity standards.

The G-20, 2016, summit decided that there is no government support of cybertheft in industry. This includes respecting trade secrets and intellectual property used for commercial purposes. Any industrial cyberespionage is conducted by rogue elements.
